A driver from Gainesville was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and DUI over a fatal wreck on GA 17 on October 31. The tragic accident resulted in the death of a White County woman. The man, identified as Glenn Corum, aged 50, was driving south on GA 17 near Fred Pitts Road in Habersham County. Corum was driving a pickup truck, identified as a Ford F150. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the truck ran onto the shoulder of the road, hit a driveway ditch, and overturned. 

As a result of this accident, a passenger in the truck sustained severe injuries and died. The passenger was identified as Lillie Ramsey, aged 51, of Cleveland. 

GSP Post 7 Assistant Commander Luke Mize said, the investigations revealed that the driver was driving under influence. The driver was immediately rushed to Habersham Medical. Later he was released into custody. Corum was also charged with failure to maintain lanes by troopers and the investigation is still underway. The State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting in the investigations into the fatal wreck on GA 17. 

This was the second severe accident reported in Habersham County over the Halloween weekend and the third severe crash that the troopers with GSP Post 7 in Toccoa have been working on at the time.
